March 17th: nice girl, shame about the shoes

So for the past few days I've been playing with my new computer. It is, I must say, one of the finer toys I own. It feels nice to not be cramped for space or for processor speed—HomeSite is way speedy on this thing, as are a number of other things.

I also have to say that I've been playing with IE5 and it's pretty cool. When you save an HTML file to disk now, it saves the whole thing, images and all. Nifty!

Of course, this also means I've been spending altogether too much time in the basement, which means it's 9 PM and though I know in my head that it's dark out, my body still thinks there's daylight left to burn. Heh. I really ought to clean house tonight, but I'm simultaneously too tired and too nervy to even think seriously about it. I can't beleive it's Wednesday already--where has the week gone?

This doing exactly as I please for a bit thing has its definite upside. Doing work in a place where your cats can bring you mouse toys if they've a mind to is fun.

Nice outside today--I went up to the sandwich place on Eastlake and got a veggie bagel sandwich for lunch, and then sat on the bench in the tiny part at the end of Roanoke and ate. It was clear enough to see Gasworks Park, and I watched the boats sail back and fourth and fed a little black duck some of my bagel.

I think tomorrow, after I put a few hours in in the morning on this project I'm trying to finish, I'll take my bike up to the gas station and get the tank filled, so I can start riding again. Riding in Seattle scares the living shit out of me, but when you get on the trails it's not that bad. I might even start riding the length of the Burke-Gilman again, up around the lake. It's quite the ride, a decent Saturday morning jaunt. Of course, I look completely silly on a bicycle as I have none of the specialized clothing everyone around here seems to have for bike riding. There's everyone with their bike tights and bike shorts and special bike shirts and shoes, and here I am with my boots, jeans jacket, and mismatched socks.

Not that I care all that much, but sometimes I feel a trifle out of place.

Kallisti thinks i'm spending too much time at the computer. He keeps on bringing me toys. I think I'll call Puddle and see if she's home from school yet.

By the way: i miss ZC. Warm people are good for cold girls.

You wear sandals in the snow
and a smile that won't wash away
can you look out the window
without your shadow getting in the way?
You're so beautiful
living and charming
and so careful when I'm in your arms
...
you give us a tantrum
and a know-it all grin
just when we need one

dream: I meet a woman in the garden, she's sitting on the bench and looking at a fountain. She's wearing a big fluffy dress. I try to talk to her, but she just kisses me.
