I'm sitting here waiting for my sheets to dry so I can put them on my bed and go to sleep.
Yes, I have another pair of sheets. somewhere. I'm not sure where right offhand, though, and it's more fun to sit here listening to the soothing rumble of the dryer and do a journal update than it would be to trek up the stairs and try to figure out where my sheets are.
Besides, I love these sheets. They're flannel and cream-colored, and divinely comfortable. and just out of the dryer....mmmmm.
Warm sheets = paradise.
I am, oddly enuogh, looking forward to this vacation. i'm looking forward to seeing my mom, and looking forward to appearing before the rest of my family like the adult I am.It's going to be stressful, I know. I may come back in need of a vacation to recover from my vacation. But I can and will deal with them as an adult.
I am taller than they are. (Or, at least, taller than all of the women.) In all of my memories of them, I am waist high no matter how tall i was physically.
Repeat to myself: I am taller, now.
And I get to see Melanie! This is one of those Very Good Things. She's going to drive up on Thursday and we're going to have dinner and spend the evening together.It's been since last November since I've seen her, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her and talking with her again. She'll probably get to be introduced to at least some of my family, which should be entertaining. "Hi, everyone, this is my ex-girlfriend Melanie. We're still really good friends and she's absconding with me for the night. See you tomorrow!"
That would go over like a lead balloon. Still, a girl can dream, can't she?
Lessons learned lately:
- Negotiation is fun and surprisingly easy once you put your mind to being honest.
- People rarely take things as badly as I think they're going to. Being gun-shy gets me nowhere.
- I can do all sorts of things if I can just put the fear of them away.
- Taking my own advice is good.
- Change is uncomfortable, but it's all right.
- Take cover when your horoscope starts lecturing you.
I think i'm going to get my mom to let me drive the car when i'm on vacation. hey, I need practice, right?
Boy, do I ever need practice. practice, practice, practice. I've been practicing in my head, reading my manuals and all that sort of thing. I don't know if obsessing is helping any, but i'm giving it the old college try.
Sleep. Right. I can do that. *snooze*
