February 26, 2001: foot, ow
Ow ow ow ow ow!

My foot hurts.

Some of you may remember that about three months ago (the day I met K, actually) I fell down a couple of times on the way to work and sprained my ankle. The ankle itself mostly healed in about three weeks, but I appear to have developed plantar fascitis, an injury and inflammation of the plantar fascia, a ligament on the bottom of the foot. I probably made some microscopic tears in the ligament when I fell, and since ligaments and tendons take longer than muscles to heal, when I returned to my normal activity level (which includes a lot of walking around on city streets; yay concrete) the injury to the fascia worsened.

This is no fun, whatsoever. It's really worsened in the past couple of weeks, to the point where standing up or walking around for any length of time has become actively painful instead of just uncomfortable. And instead of just hurting in the morning, it now hurts off and on all day.

I've been basically ignoring it, hoping that it would go away. I ignored it this weekend, because there was no way I wasn't going to be running around this weekend on the coast with Chris. It honestly didn't get in the way all *that* much, but we also didn't do a huge amount of walking around.

It makes me grumpy, though. I'm going to have to put an ice pack on it for fifteen minutes every night for the next two months, probably, and I'm going to have to make warming up the ankle by wiggling it around for a couple of minutes before I get out of bed a habit. But it's mostly annoying because the inury restricts how much I'm about to walk around, which means that I have a tendency not to get much exercise because my foot hurts.

Unfortunately, I can't just ignore it, because everything I've read about it has cautioned that Bad Things can happen if you let it go without treating it. It's just so *frustrating*...forgetting that the foot is injured until I push myself.

owie.

more later. I had a fab time this weekend but I need to go home now.
