Stay with me, folks. The next few weeks should be interesting.

Reality:

Just to clarify, my friends, the fact that mail to idat@madstop.org is bouncing is not, exactly, my fault. Okay, it is my fault. But there are reasons.

See, a few months ago, i called and told them to take the dialup and shannon's account off my bill. they said okay, they would, and Shannon could call them to confirm that he wanted his portion billed to him.

So, I relay this information to Shannon. I go on, in full confidence that everything is working.

Then i get a bill...and i'm bering billed for two things i'm not using. I pay it.

I get, the next month, another bill. I don't pay this one. i put 'call blarg' on my to-do list, and there it molders. I go on vacation, i come back, i'm swamped with so much work that the only time I can call them are hours when they're not open.

So, like reasonable people, they cut off the account. My only consolation at this point is that Shannon's account has been cut off, as well, even though they apparently switched the billing over to him a few days back. (He finally got around to calling them, you see...) Since it was Shannon not calling them that caused the charges to appear on my bill, which caused me not to pay it, which caused...you get the picture.

A debacle caused by overwork and undercommunication. *heh*

The long and the short of it is, i've sent them money, so the account should be back online in the next couple of days. In the meantime, you can get ahold of me at madstop@zipcon.net or madstop@madstop.org.

I'm reading again. Anyone else surprised? My huge reading habit seems to be something I only indulge in when i'm alone or nearly so.

Perhaps it's a lingering feeling from the messages I got in my childhood that reading is a solitary vice, that you should never admit you read books and certainly never let anyone else see you reading. According to my father (who hated my mother's reading habit) reading makes you ignore what's actually going on around you.

not that he said so in as many words.

I swear, if i have children and they turn out to be readers, I will give them all the books they want, I will go to the library with them, I will let them read at the dinner table if they so desire.

Anyway, i'm reading again. i've gone through about six books in the past week, and am working on the eighth. And this is even with the brutal work schedule i've been keeping up.

Speaking of which, i think i get to leave early today, and I'm taking Saturday off, and I will sleep. Mmm, sleep. glorious sleep.

And Laurakender is in town! This makes me happy, since I missed seeing her when I was in Iowa. We will hang out and do glorious things!

I also bought a futon today in anticipation of Paula coming in to town. She's moving here and crashing at my place while she looks for work and a place to live, and I think it'll be fun to have her here. She can keep the cats company.

Ummyeah. i need to work some more.
